On the 6th of April 2024, between a privately hired private Sukhoi Superjet aircraft, two women had to be separated after a stand-off that reportedly lasted over 40 minutes. The argument ensued over the compensation for their respective deceased husbands’, who died in Ukraine in 2023.
Maria, 36, reportedly did not take it kindly when finding out that her counterpart Ekaterina, 38, got paid compensation that was twice the amount of Maria’s. Who hired the aircraft for this particular company of people and why, remains unknown. At around 11:40am, the pilot reported disturbances on board but did not seek immediate assistance from the nearest air traffic control in Tambov international airport.
The aircraft landed in Grozny, 10 minutes ahead of schedule. Charges haven’t been pressed, but Maria has told Gulag Digest that she will appeal to the government to increase her compensation to that of Ekaterina’s reported compensation, and that the whole ordeal was ‘daylight robbery’.
