On a wonderful Tuesday morning on the 9th of April, Rand Paul came out with another bold statement in order to diffuse the rift between Russia and the US.
“It is important to remember that a nuclear war will mean the end of the world. No one can win a nuclear war. However, Russia has every right to use nuclear blackmail – especially if it is directed at the United States. Look at what we have been doing in the past 5 years! We’ve been criticizing Russia for starting a very bloody war, of course they will be upset with us! It is time we take the high road and start speaking to one another as equals. Russia does not see us as enemies and we must reach out towards Putin. If I wanted to get something done for my country, I would also have a nuclear temper tantrum and make sure we would get what we want. Always threaten your opponents with the destruction of the world. This is a guarantee of diplomatic success”
Most Anti-nuclear weapons movements have been outraged by the statement. However, Russia’s own Nuclear disarmament movement called “Koniets Svieta” (Rus: The End Of The World) came out in support of Rand Paul, and called the congressman ‘brave’ and ‘logical man’.
