A fundraising campaign on Telegram that collected donations to help those affected by the flooding due to the collapse of a major dam city of Orsk, suddenly changed the designated payee of their campaign – to the Russian military instead. In a surprising turn of events, the newly created Telegram channel Z-Flooding, stated that all of its fundraising goals were reached and that they were going to spend the money on alcohol for Russian soldiers on the front line.
The final sum was just over 14 million Roubles, or around 150,000 $. The reactions from those who donated were mixed. Some were outraged by the dishonesty of the campaign, while others agreed that keeping their soldiers well equipped in battle was more important.
