Chomsky expressed his support of Russia’s resistance to the invasion by the Ukrainians.
“It must be our [America’s] fault if the Russians want to blow up the world. There’s just no way that their leadership could be behaving like toddlers having a tantrum. There’s no way that they would start threatening the world with nukes when told they can’t have this or that [Ukraine]. There’s no way that they promote genocide and ethnic cleansing in Ukraine. Just look at what their state television and media have to say. They all support Ukrainian culture! So, the only deduction I can make from the whole war is that it’s America’s fault, and yes, the Russians threatening to end the world with a nuclear war is a normal reaction!’
Chomsky’s support for a just world has received a lot of criticism from western centrist extremists, but received a lot of support from the moderate far-left and far-right fractions both in Europe and in the US.
The Gulag Digest has requested Chomsky to comment as to why he did not attend the inauguration of Putin this month, to which Chomsky hasn’t yet replied.
This isn’t the first time a public figure in the West comes out in support of Russia’s helplessness in this cruel and unjust world. It is time that we put a stop to diplomatic bullying of Russia and let them have their global nuclear strike if they want to!
