History & Culture“On The Historical Unity Between Freedom And Slavery” – Analysis Of Putin’s New Essay

In Putin’s newest essay “On The Historical Unity Between Freedom And Slavery”, he outlines key benefits of not having freedom in Russia. In return for the sacrifice of its people, they may count on White Ladas (at least the women) and subsidies (cash).

Historically, this type of exchange always ended with success. Stalin’s ruthless hand kept the Soviet people motivated to fight the Germans. In the same manner, today’s Russians can be kept highly motivated to carry out any sacrifices deemed necessary by their supreme leader. Slavery is in fact, freedom. The freedom to sacrifice everything for your leader. Freedom, on the other hand, is slavery. If one gave the people of Russia all the freedom they wanted now, what would happen? Without a shadow of doubt, NATO forces would take over after a quick CIA-backed coup. This would most certainly destroy the democratic foundations of Russia.

Hence, Russia’s president argues that no freedom is needed at all. With a small sacrifice (such as one’s life or health), an abundant range of benefits may come in turn: a white Lada, a paycheck, maybe the promise of a high quality liquor. All in all, kings deserve to live like kings, while commoners should be able to sacrifice everything for their leaders’ ambitions and have no life aspirations of their own. The fact that White Ladas and other gifts are offered to commoners in exchange for their already mandatory sacrifices, is an act of nobility and generosity from the Russian president.
