Russian leader Vladimir Putin has thought of a new way to motivate his population to increase its productivity. And while exports may be faltering, one can always think of new ways of motivating the workforce.
“I will kill myself if we don’t reach 11,000$ GDP per capita by the end of the year. I will not back down. Get to work.”
Impoverished Russians have started to flock to job centers, only to realize that they were being mobilized later. The statement caused a commotion among the millions who would sacrifice their lives (a lot to lose!) for their president and his deserved luxurious lifestyle.
This is the first time such techniques have been deployed in economics. Perhaps, this will turn out to be even more of a success than Mao’s five-year plan. It is expected that the few hundred people that oppose Vladimir Putin domestically will start being less productive and perhaps even get fired on purpose. In any case, this is a brilliant initiative, one that may cause flashbacks to the good old days of communism in Russia.
